Moose Crepe and Thai Fusion: Fold It In

What a moose has to do with crepes is anybody’s guess, but this oddly-named restaurant is one of Fremont’s best. Crepes are a staple of French cuisine, and these thin, rich pancakes are stuffed with a variety of sweet or savory ingredients. Some of the most popular sweet selections include the banana with caramel sauce and Nutella and the peachy mango. Savory crepes are great for meals, and some hits include the chicken curry crepe and the Sunrise – scrambled eggs with bacon, Jack cheese, tomatoes, and pesto. The presence of curry on the menu leads us to the rest of the offerings, which are based on Thai dishes. In addition to some Thai-influenced crepes, Moose also offers a fine take on some standards, including a perfectly spicy drunken noodles and some excellent fried rice. It’s a strange combination, but it works really well. Service is attentive and the kitchen is very speedy.

Premier Pizza: Oven Fresh

Pizza takes many forms, but leave it to the Bay Area to combine sourdough with pizza dough. Fremont’s Premier Pizza uses a traditional San Francisco sourdough starter in their delicious crust, and the end result is a non-traditional pie that has locals raving. First opened in 1995, the restaurant has developed a loyal fan base of eaters that praise the fresh ingredients and creative combinations. The sourdough starter makes the crust light and fluffy, with a crispy exterior that supports toppings exceptionally well. Some of the most popular pies include the creamy garlic chicken, which is fragrant with garlic and cream sauce, as well as the thin crust Filet Mignon pizza with caramelized onions, marinated mushrooms, and garlic sauce. If you don’t feel like pizza, they offer some great salads and a selection of pasta entrees as well. Prices are very reasonable: you can fill up for under ten dollars!
